How the song came to be
Near the end of the Covid pandemic, I decided to check out a website called "TC After Dark". As most of you will know if you are a fan of the Michael Smerconish Potus radio show, TC (Teressa "TC" Scornavacchi) is Michaels long-time producer. I was flipping through her pod cast collection for her own show called "TC After Dark", when I spotted an episode that piqued my interest, titled; "How to write a book" (Episode 79). After listening to the podcast, it motivated me to get off my hockey player butt and start writing "My Book"!

After about 10 months of work, much of it was 12 hour days, I finished my book. I was a one man show doing everything from writing to the cover art, layout etc. In fact, I ended up writing the first two books of what is to be a 5 book series. I decided to package up the first two volumes into a single 506 page novel titled "A Letter Guide For Rebecca". Its available through Amazon as either a paperback or eBook (If you really want to know who I am, read the book).

For those wondering what the book is about, it's in fact a love story of sorts. My love story. I decided to wrap it up in a fictional story so I could protect the identity of many of the people who are fictionalized in my story but are based on real people in my life. It has some time travel and of course aliens that could perform the time travel process. Here is a short description I use on Amazon:

So, what does this have to do with the song? Well, a month ago, I decided I wanted to write and produce an album/soundtrack based on the book. After all, I had never written anything before and managed to write a novel, why not create an Album/Soundtrack just in case Steven Spielberg or Shawn Levy want to turn my book into a movie starring Ryan Reynolds (A fellow Canadian). Having some prior musical experience (I started drumming at 12), I embarked on the creative process of song writing in my home studio. I had written my first two songs when one day as I was playing around with some riffs and choruses, I felt one of the choruses might be better suited for a different song and for some unexplained reason, I seem to come up with some lyrics that fit "The Mingle Project", that must have been subconsciously floating around in my head. So, I decided to put my album writing aside for a short period and began the process of writing a song based on Michael Smerconish's latest passion, "The Mingle Project". I too believe that the underlying message of "The Mingle Project" is a serious, timely and much needed of mass dissemination. Currently, "The Mingle Project" gets a little airtime on Michael's Potus radio show, mostly when Michael is promoting an upcoming speaking engagement. I am sorry Michael but that is not enough! You need to move "The Mingle Project" messaging to Defcon 1. Ok maybe Defcon 2 but my point is, you need to start building the machinery needed to get the word out ASAP. That is why I think you need to setup a not-for-profit LLC called "The Mingle Project Initiative" whose sole purpose is the promotion of "The Mingle Project's" messaging and if possible, initiate some corrective action.

This song was written as a first step for this goal. It allows for the messaging to be disseminated through a song. We have done this before for major world causes and I think it is time to do it again NOW! I like the song, but I am sure it can be improved on by real musical artist and not some first timer (ex Canadian Hockey Player) like me. Don't misunderstand me, I think the lyrics are pretty good. Especially when you can fit into the lyrics the title "The Mingle Project". Let's see if Taylor Swift or Bruce Springsteen can do better (yuk yuk). And as far as the song making money, I will be happy to donate any money the song generates to that cause. Please don’t think this will be some huge windfall. Spotify pays $4 for every 1000 streams. So, 1,000,000 streams would generate roughly $4,000. It may not be a lot, but it certainly is a starting point!
